Abstract

Pacifism has always been under pressure to legitimize itself - in the first half of the 20th century as a counter-movement to bellicism and nationalism, after 1945 as a position seemingly removed from reality. Within pacifist discourses, Christian pacifism marks an important voice. The focus of this paper is to present the evangelical debates. The author works historically and systematically, recalling the endur-ingly important role of pacifist voices in evangelical peace discourse.
