Mit Hans Blumenberg verschwörungstheoretischen Wirklichkeitsbegriffen auf der Spur

Abstract

Everyone knows what they mean when they talk about reality and people normally assume that they share this reality with other people. However, it is not only since the COVID pandemic that we have repeatedly experienced that some people, believing in comprehensive conspiracies, assume a completely different reality. In order to critically confront these realities, a theory is needed that describes the factual plurality and at the same time shows ways to criticize any concept of reality. One such theory can be found in the philosophy of Hans Blumenberg. Using his concept as a framework for thought, the peculiarity of conspiracy theories’ concepts of reality is described and, finally, possibilities for criticism are shown.
